How are parliamentary seats allocated in Algeria?

By proportional representation: lists below 5% are excluded, then the electoral quotient (admitted lists' votes ÷ seats) is computed; each list wins as many seats as it meets the quotient, with the rest allocated by largest remainder.

What is the electoral threshold?

5% of the expressed votes in the constituency; lists that fall short are excluded from the allocation, unless no list reaches it (art. 198).

What is the electoral quotient?

The ratio of the admitted lists' total votes to the number of seats to fill; it is the number of votes needed for one seat.

How are the remaining seats allocated?

By largest remainder: lists are ranked by the votes left after the initial allocation, and the remaining seats go to the largest remainders.

What happens in case of a tie in remainders?

The last seat goes to the list whose candidate is the youngest, per art. 196 of the electoral law.

Are the calculator's results official?
