What is the legal retirement age in Algeria?

60 for men, with at least 15 years of work. A working woman may request retirement from 55 – and may also keep working to 60 if she wishes (art. 6, law 83-12 as amended by law 16-15).

How is the age reduced for mothers?

A working woman who raised one or more children for at least 9 years gets a one-year reduction per child, capped at 3 – retirement possible from 52 (art. 8, law 83-12).

What if I reach the legal age without 15 career years?

The minimum is 15 declared working years. Below it there is no full pension – depending on the case an allowance or proportional benefit may apply. The calculator shows the 15-year date and uses it when it falls later than the age condition.

Do proportional or no-age-condition (32-year) retirement still exist?

No. Law 16-15, in force since 1 January 2017, abolished both. The only awaited exception is high-hardship positions, whose application decree has still not been published.

Can I work past the legal age?

Yes – article 7 allows up to 5 extra years (65 for men); each extra year raises the pension rate.

Can education civil servants retire before the legal age?

Yes. Law 25-09 of 19 July 2025 (art. 7 bis 1) lets the corps of teachers, professors, censeurs, education-establishment directors and national-education inspectors retire, on request, 3 years before the legal age; women of these corps get the same reduction before 55. Application terms are set by regulation – treat the result as indicative until it is published. Whether this stacks with the women's child reduction is not explicitly settled by the text; the calculator applies both pending the regulation.

I had career interruptions – how do I account for them?

The calculator assumes a continuous career from the first job. For unvalidated gaps, shift the "first declared job" date by their total length to get a correct 15-year estimate.

How much will my pension be?

The pension is 2.5% per working year of the average recent salary, capped at 80% with an SNMG-linked minimum – use Hsabet's CNR pension calculator to estimate it.
