What is a social mutual (mutuelle)?

It is a non-profit private entity that provides complementary social protection to its members, on top of mandatory social security – governed by law 15-02 of 04/01/2015.

What is the mutual contribution rate?

Under the general regime (individual benefits), the rate depends on income: 3% for a base below 3× the SNMG, then bands from 3.1% up to 7% for higher bases.

Why is the result a range instead of a single number?

Because the ministry sets a rate band per tier, and each mutual sets its exact rate within that band in its bylaws; we therefore show a midpoint with a minimum and a maximum.

Is joining a mutual mandatory?

No, membership is optional and complementary to mandatory social security (CNAS or CASNOS).

About this tool

This tool estimates the monthly contribution to a social mutual (mutuelle sociale) – an optional complementary social protection that adds to mandatory social security (CNAS / CASNOS). The rate applies to the social-security contribution base (the salary subject to contribution) and rises by income tier, measured in multiples of the SNMG (24,000 DA).

The Ministry of Labour sets the rate as a band (e.g. 4.1% – 5%) per tier, while each mutual sets the exact rate within that band in its own bylaws. So the calculator shows a midpoint estimate with a minimum and a maximum – except the first tier (3%), which is a fixed rate. Reference scheme: general regime, individual benefits (law 15-02).
