Who gets the travel allowance and how much is it?

Every Algerian resident: €750 for adults 19 and over, €300 for minors from 12 to under 19 within a limit of two children per family. Under-12s are not eligible. Paid in euros or dollars.

How often can it be used?

Once per reference year, running from 20 July to 19 July of the following year, for a round trip of at least 7 days.

Where and when is the dinar countervalue paid?

At the Bank of Algeria or the participating banks (BNA, BADR, BEA, BDL, CNEP – list set to expand), no later than 72 h and no earlier than one week before departure, at the day's manual selling rate, with a 1,000 DZD fee. Since December 2025 a bank account at the bank and scriptural payment (CIB or cheque) are required.

Where is the currency collected?

At the Bank of Algeria's dedicated counters at the territory's exit points (airports, ports, land border posts), on presenting the passport, the payment receipt and the boarding pass for air and sea travel.

What if the trip is cancelled or shortened?

Cancelling before exit requires returning the full amount; a stay cut below 7 days requires returning it within 5 working days of return, at the Bank of Algeria. Non-compliance exposes to a 5-year suspension of the exchange right and to prosecution; handing the amount to a third party is sanctioned.

Besides the passport: the 7-day land-travel receipt and proof of paying the fuel exit tax (its calculator is in the related tools below).
